Pirate Hunters is the story of two divers, John Chatterton and John Mattera, searching for the sunken ship of legendary pirate Joseph Bannister, destroyed by the English navy in the year 1686 off the coast of the Dominican Republic. Author Robert Kurson writes a great narrative of the quest, and adds much historical detail about piracy and naval warfare, as well more recent history of diving expeditions searching for sunken treasure ships.
